17 June 2026 | Scandic Plaza, Umeå | 22:00–01:00

“Bonju” is a Sámi word meaning crooked, not straight — reclaimed in a similar way to “queer”.

As part of the Arctic Arts Summit 2026, BONJU creates a queer-centred Indigenous space for gathering, creativity, and connection.

The second evening of BONJU opens its doors to both summit delegates and the wider community. Join us for an evening where artists, storytellers, performers, and audiences come together to celebrate queer Indigenous creativity from across the Arctic and beyond.

The evening begins with a mingle from 22:00, followed by an open stage at 23:00 hosted by Timimie Märak. Expect drag, music, spoken word, storytelling, poetry, performance art, and artistic experiments that don't fit neatly into any category.

Everyone is welcome in the audience.

The open stage is dedicated to Indigenous voices.
