Since its launch in April 2025, Club Bisous has drawn over 200 attendees at each event, becoming a cornerstone of Umeå’s queer community, a space where established performers like Misty May can shine, and newcomers like Tegu Zto can take their first steps into the spotlight. The club is now a regular activity of RFSL Umeå.

Friday, 30 January, it’s happening again. ‘Club Bisous: 404 Gender Not Found’ promises a lineup of Umeå’s most daring queer talent, including:

  • Dee Bugg: The Blue Screen of Drag, delivering nerdy, glitchy, femme perfection.
  • Misty May: Umeå’s own drag queen and host of the evening.
  • Pussling: Gender-corrupted burlesque where comedy and robotics collide.
  • Tegu Zto: Making their Club Bisous debut.
  • Justin Thyme: Returning after a fierce debut at Cabaret Bisous during Pride.
  • Andra Anna: Award-winning poet and national poetry slam champion (2019), bringing sharp, political words that cut through the noise
  • Frtetude: DJ extraordinaire, spinning records until the system crashes.

The dress code? Cyberpunk shimmer, neon green, broken binary looks, pixelated glam, or anything fabulously corrupted.

Benjamin Sientzoff, founder of Escarpin Productions and organiser of Club Bisous, is looking forward to a night of queer chaos and cyberpunk glam.

Umeå’s queer scene is small but fierce, says Misty May, local drag superstar and host of ‘404 Gender Not Found.’ Events like this remind us that even in a digital world, our community thrives when we come together in real life.

In January 2025, Meta ended its third-party fact-checking program and relaxed protections against anti-LGBTQ content. By October 2025, Meta went further, blocking all political ads in the EU, including those promoting human rights. Even RFSL saw its ads censored for messages like “It’s time to stand up for gender equality” or “We must fight hate crimes together”.

When tech giants like Meta shut down our ability to organise online, physical spaces like Club Bisous become even more vital, says Sientzoff.

Why this matters

In a world where algorithms decide who gets seen—and who gets erased—‘404 Gender Not Found’ isn’t just an event. It’s a celebration of the glitches, where queer creativity shines through the cracks of the system. It’s a reminder that when digital spaces fail us, we build our own.

About Club Bisous, Escarpin Productions, and RFSL Umeå

Club Bisous isn’t just a club. It’s a platform, a hub, a safe space to gather, perform, and celebrate identity openly. Since 2025, this pop-up queer club in Umeå has attracted 200+ attendees per event, offering a stage for diverse art forms, from drag and burlesque to poetry and DJ sets. Club Bisous is now a regular activity under RFSL Umeå, providing stability and a platform for artists of all experience levels.

Escarpin Productions: What started as a crowdfunded, grassroots project to fill Umeå’s queer nightlife gap has grown into Benjamin Sientzoff’s brand for setting the stage, literally, for queer culture and community. From DIY drag nights to full-scale productions, Escarpin is where art, activism, and nightlife collide.

RFSL Umeå: Local branch of Sweden’s LGBTQ+ rights federation, supporting inclusive cultural initiatives like Club Bisous. After Meta blocked RFSL’s human rights ads in 2025, the organisation continues to fight for visibility—both online and in spaces like Club Bisous, where queer voices can’t be erased.
